Manitoba RCMP have arrested 31-year-old Tyson Pashe in connection to the Dakota Tipi First Nation Thursday afternoon.

RCMP said Pashe was arrested without incident around 1:20 p.m. after “a brief pursuit.” No one was injured.

A man and woman remain in hospital in “serious condition” from the shooting.

Family members told Global News the victims were Gracie Prince and her uncle, Chris Pashe. They were both related to the suspect according to family.

Family tell Global News one of the victims was Gracie Price, a relative of the suspect.

Officers said they made the arrest after receiving a tip from the community.

“Members of the community reported a suspicious person,” said Sgt. Bert Paquet, a spokesperson with the RCMP, Thursday afternoon.

“A lot of effort went into the arrest, as we were looking for a suspect at large who allegedly shot two victims,” he said. “The dangerous suspect is now in custody.”

RCMP said charges against Pashe haven’t been finalized.

“This remains an active investigation and RCMP will remain on the scene for an extended period of time,” said Paquet.

He said members of the community are still being advised to limit their movement and stay in their homes.

Timeline of shooting

RCMP were called on scene around 4:30 a.m. after reports of two shooting in two different residents in the community, which is about 85 kilometres west of Winnipeg near Portage la Prairie.

Officers said Pashe was known to police and considered armed and dangerous.

Several tactical units have been called to the scene, as well as police dogs and the serious crimes unit.

RCMP put the community on lockdown and asked residents to limit their movements and stay inside their homes.

They also requested that community members not take pictures of RCMP locations for safety reasons.

Around 10:30 a.m., RCMP made an anncouement to the media and said they were looking Pashe, who they believed to be in the community still.
